Hugh
Aodh O'Brien is a highly experienced Stunt Coordinator,
Stuntman, Stunt Rigger and 2nd Unit Director with over
18 years in
the
Stunt Industry. He gained this valuable experience through
his work on over 350 individual productions, including
75+
Feature Films, 130+ Television Episodes, 140+ Live Shows,
in addition to numerous commercials, still photo shoots,
Imax
films, music video's, short films, interactive & digital
projects, on many locations throughout North America and
overseas. His
extensive experience leaves Hugh with a solid foundation
in both the traditional and cutting edge technologies of
the
entertainment industry and an unsurpassed safety record.
Born and raised in New York, Hugh
began dreaming of becoming a stuntman at the age of 8,
after seeing the movie "Bullitt"
starring Steve McQueen. He started working in local theatre
productions at the age of 13 on the lighting and stage crews.
In May 1985, he joined "The Hell Drivers", a live Auto
Stunt Show that traveled around the east coast of the US
and Canada.
Returning to NYC in the fall of 1986, Hugh earned his SAG
card in commercials and quickly graduated to television
series and feature films. After working in New York for
4 years
he
moved to Los Angeles in 1990.
Hugh was inducted into
the Stuntmen's Association of Motion Pictures in 2000.
He is also a member of American Federation of Radio & Television
Artists (AFTRA), The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences
(ATAS), The World Stunt Academy, and the prestige's Directors
Guild of America (DGA). Hugh is also Owner/President of
Variegated Enterprises Inc., a company that supplies Stunt
and Rigging
Equipment as well as Action Consulting Services for the
entertainment industry.
Hugh lives in Thousand Oaks, CA
with his wife Cindy. He graduated from UCLA with a certificate
in Film & Television in June
2003 and continues his education by taking various classes
at UCLA and elsewhere. In his free time Hugh enjoys participating
in a multitude of outdoor activities, travel and flying
aerobatic
planes. Hugh continues to work in all mediums with the
best craftsmen and artists from around the world, on
some of
the
largest (and smallest) projects ever produced.
